September 20, 2020 – I was invited to attend a Zoom meeting with Sister Ethel of Missionvale Care Center of Port Elizabeth, South Africa to learn more about the operation. https://www.missionvale.co.za/about-us-topmenu.html She has 300 students in the school and they service up to 900 in the local area. Here is the link to the US organization supporting the facility. http://missionvaleusa.org/ They have been heavy impacted by COVID-19.
The Missionvale Care Centre is an interdenominational non profit organisation operating in the extremely poor township of Missionvale in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. It was founded by Sister Ethel Normoyle, from humble beginnings, under a tree in 1988. It has grown into a centre which provides love and care for the poor and destitute, with particular emphasis on those living with HIV/AIDS. It remains true to her original vision and is still directed by her and a Board of Directors.
District Governor Elect Dan Gensler is proposing to have a District 5340 service project to Missionvale South Africa in early 2022.
On a funny note, the participants may have noticed that I spilled coffee on my lap top and quickly turned it upside down to drain out the coffee. I was unable discontinue my camera before turning over the laptop. All is good.
