September 9, 2021 – The club met again at Jimmy O’s on 15th Street in Del Mar. I was the Zoom Meeting host. For lunch was Sculpin beer and Gumbo; it was very spicy today.
I failed to take any pictures at the meeting. I was asked to lead a practice bidding technique called the last bid. We auctioned off a bottle of wine. Every bid was only $2. However, every time you bid, it is additive to your previous bid. The last person to bid $2 wins. Unfortunately, we had to cut it off and we ran out of time. We raised over $170 for emergency relief in Haiti. We plan to auction off a great package worth over $1,500 using the last $100 bid method.
The speaker was Terry Himes who just retired form the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He reviewed the history of JPL and and early rocketry. Terry may decide to join our club based on the effort by Marty Peters.
